There are many types of bird boxes we have however decided that the best type seems to be the ones with a fixed lid to reduce the breakages on hinges the silde bottom is one type the more popular type is the hinge front. This allows access even when birds are roosting without fear of the nest falling out. The fixed lid also seems to provide a dryer environment. There are birds that don't nest in Holes hence the open fronted box.

All the boxes have a bottom designed to aid drainage and ensure that should water get into the box it escapes fast.

The aim of these bird boxes is to provide a warm dry and safe environment for the birds to rear their chicks.
